Here's one reader's comments (from Amazon):
"This EXCELLENT story is a wonderfully realistic exploration of the
reactions of a group of amateur sailors who are forced to flee to
safety when a meteor strikes the earth, creating a volcanic winter and
making huge changes in the coastline of North America. What begins
as an unlikely group, hastily thrown together by events out of their
control, eventually starts to grow into a new civilization that will
pattern itself after an ancient Neolithic culture. Now, if all that sounds
pretty heavy, don't let it scare you away. These are real characters
with troubling dreams, conflicts, and struggles for leadership. Their
little fleet embarks on a real-life adventure that gets more and more
exciting as it unfolds. A combination of action adventure, romance,
science fiction and even a little bit of anthropology, this is one of the
best books I have read in years. I highly recommend it, and am
already anxious to read the sequel, so I hope it doesn't take too long
to come out!"
